Rei and Chad married after she finished high school and moved to the U.S. Things weren't quite working out as planned when Rei found out her grandfather died. She packed up herself and her 2 year old daughter Sarah and went back to the shrine. Chad has on occasion stopped by in his travels but is too chicken to stay. She has divorced him and threatened him never to return to her shrine on the Moon. She has given him the Hikiwa Shrine on Earth. Sarah visits her father sporatically.

In addition to running the Moon Shrine, Rei is also on the Senshi council with the other Sailor Senshi. She is also a member of the Inner Council. This council heads over the Senshi Council. She is second in command in order of rank, behind Venus. She is in command of the Armed Forces and is the head of Senshi Training. This does not help in the fact that Rei is Head Priestess at the shrine and a single mom. Her relationship with Sarah is strained. And to make things worse Sarah wants to be just like her mom. Rei loves Sarah very much she is her life and it hurts her that she can't spend all the time teaching her how to be a Shinto Princess and a true Sailor Senshi, although Sarah is doing pretty good at being Sailor Taurus.

Rei is now trying to presue a realationship with a man that she has recently been aqauinted with Jonathan, a man who is obcessed with revenge. Rei has been given the gift of her memories from Queen Serenity. She has regained almost all of her memories of the Silver Millenium. Many are still jumbled inside but they manage to surface time to time. Now that she knows that Jadiete has returned for revenge on herself and NeoQueen Serenity she will stop at nothing to save those who are dear to her, or wil she lose her heart to him again.
