Description: Hotaru is the reincarnation of the Princess of Saturn, and transforms into the Melancholic Fighter, Sailor Saturn. She possesses a unique power of healing which has alienated her from her peers due to their fear and misunderstanding. Hotaru also possesses the ability to create an enormous amount of energy that can blast anything in her path, but she does this subconsciously. Hotaru’s mother died when she was young, and lived in seclusion with her evil father, Professor Tomoe. At first her father had a good heart, but he sold his soul to an entity known as the Mistress Nine after a lab explosion killed Hotaru. In return for his soul, the entity allowed Hotaru to live. Hotaru later became friends with Chibi Usa and with the Sailor Senshi. Sailor Saturn is the Leader of the Outer Senshi. She is arguably the most powerful of all the Sailor Senshi, but she is severely limited by her weak constitution. As Hotaru, she is a caring and gentle soul, but as Sailor Saturn she has the power to completely destroy entities, fortresses, and entire worlds

During the time of our story Hotaru is studing to become a doctor, but her responsibilities as a Sailor Senshi has slowed her studies. She is best friends with Chibi Usa and is devestated when she was captured and transformed back into Wicked Lady. Once Chibi was returned to normal she still had a feeling that something else would happen to her, and it did. Chibi seen the power of the ancients awakened within her and she transformed into Lady Serenity. Hotaru tries to watch out for her even though she is powerful now, she realizes she still has a lot to learn.
At this time in our story, Hotaru is facing many pressing items. She wants to try and protect the palace from Hebi’s random intrusions, but finds many difficulties standing in the way of her finishing her plans. One is her own mind. After Hebi brings up the
idea that if the general return would her evil half, Mistress 9 return too? This idea collects in her mind, along with the stress of her current responsibilities and Hotaru ends up facing one of her toughest battles, fighting herself. She had to destroy the part of her that believed in Mistress 9. The dark part of her came
alive and enveloped Hotaru, leaving her in a completely dark state. Hotaru then had to fight her way back to existence. By outwitting her other half Hotaru succeeded in defeating her. She then realized her true purpose and duty of being a senshi:
protecting the defenseless. She realized that the other senshi were not her slave drivers, but her friends who cared about her. Finally she returned after her soul searching to complete her missions, with a new refocused energy.
