Chapter 13: Traitor
Enmity slowly recovers while he sits in his throne, Wicked Lady is in the room sitting on the dais before the throne. Mysterio, Taurus, and Ariel are in the lower room with Malice.
You seem to finally be recovering well my Lord, Wicked Lady says sarcastically. Her anger still shows from their confrontation in the royal gardens. Enmity rubs his midsection, still sore in the ribs, but he is strong enough to sit up. Yes I am, Why are you so concerned? I thought you were mad because I hit your dear father? He gives Wicked Lady a menacing look.
Wicked Lady looks at Enmity, and thinks. There has got to be more to him. Why is he so angry? What happened to him that he can’t tell, or let go of. While Wicked Lady is thinking she begins to realize as she looks at him that he is handsome. Nah! She shakes her head. That has got to be my imagination.
Enmity, who has been thinking ever since they returned from the royal gardens, suddenly comes up with a plan. Mysterio! Enmity calls out. Come up here! Mysterio enters the room, and bows slightly. You called my Lord? Enmity attempts to straighten himself despite the pain. Yes, I want you to show your loyalty to me, and capture my dear sister. I need her here, at my side. With her here we can heal more quickly, and maybe I can convince her to join us to defeat the Moon Kingdom.
Mysterio bows once again. Yes my Lord, as you wish. Mysterio begins to exit the chamber, but then realizes that he has forgotten to ask for his talisman. Without it he can not exit or enter the protective barrier that surrounds the Castle. He turns around and takes a few steps back toward Enmity, and asks for it. Enmity seems rather annoyed that Mysterio forgot to ask him for it, but gives it to him. Mysterio, do not fail me. Enmity says darkly. Mysterio nods, and exits.
Mysterio appears just outside the Palace Gardens. AS he walks through the gardens he remembers the last time he was there, on that night so long ago with the divine Princess of Venus. Oh to see her again, he thinks. Mysterio quickly turns his thoughts to the task at hand. Enmity must have a reason to send me alone to get his sister. Either he knows she is not trusted, and they won’t be watching over her, or he thinks I have a different reason for being on his team.
As he walks, lost in thought, he fails to see the grey cat that walks up behind him. Can I help you sir? Diana asks. Mysterio turns and can't help but smile at the grey kitten. The Palace grounds are under a security watch sir, and you have to report to the senshi on guard over by the fountain to remain on the grounds.
Thank you, he mutters to the kitten, and heads in that general direction. As he looks toward the fountain he sees Mars, Uranus, and Venus, talking to each other. It seems as if Venus is trying to console the other two senshi. Mysterio decides to walk over to the Senshi.
As he approaches the fountain, Pluto calls to Mars, and Uranus from across the gardens to come and see something, leaving Venus by herself. Venus looks up and sees him. As he gets closer she looks at him with a puzzled look of recognition. Do I know you? She looks at Mysterio very carefully, than all of a sudden she realizes who it is, she looks around, then back to him. You gotta get out of here before they see you.
Venus? My Love? He looks into her eyes, and bends down to kiss her. Is it really you? The old lovers embrace in a long passionate kiss. Suddenly someone behind them interrupts by clearing their throat. They both turn to see Lord Europa looking at them, his arms crossed.
Venus! Europa walks forward, and pulls the two apart, then looks at Venus. May I ask what you are doing? You are suppose to be keeping guard! Mysterio does not like the way Europa is talking to Venus, and pushes him away from her. Don’t you ever touch her again! Do you hear me! Mysterio lifts his hand and a very powerful beam of energy springs from his hand in the shape of a sword.
Europa jumps back into a defensive stance. How dare you threaten me with a weapon! Just who are you anyway!? Mysterio looks at Europa, and closes his eyes. Europa realizes that he is no longer in the garden, but in a barren landscape. To make matters worse, Venus and the intruder have disappeared. Where am I? what happened? He calls out.
Venus looks at the stunned Europa, who does not seem to see them at all. Can he see us? Venus asks. Not as long as I keep the illusion up, Mysterio replies. He reaches out and softly touches Venus on the cheek. Can you help me?
Venus looks at Mysterio and thinks. He is working with Enmity, how can I help him, and be true to my friends? She decides that if she plays along maybe, just maybe she can learn more of what's going on. How can I help you? What is it that you need?
Mysterio moves his lips to her ear. I need to bring Faithfullove to Enmity. He wants her at our base so that she can heal completely, and quickly. She thinks for a moment, maybe he is sincere. Okay I will help, and who knows, It may get rid of some of the tension too.
Venus tells Mysterio where Faithfullove is resting, and shows him to her room. Once Venus gets in the room she sees that Neo Queen Serenity, and Peace are in there asleep. She slowly, and carefully wakes up the Queen, and encourages her to go to her chambers. Venus insists that she will stay with Faithfullove, and all will be fine. All the while Mysterio hides just outside in the corridor.
After Neo Queen Serenity leaves, Venus wakes up Peace. She convinces him to go and take a break, and that she will watch over her. After he is gone she gives Mysterio the signal. He appears, and picks up the weakened warrior. Then he creates a portal, and leaves with her. As soon as he is gone Venus realizes what she has done. Oh No! What if Enmity gets Faithfullove to join them?
